This has been a family favorite for years loved by four generations. It is Terp’s Bread. Before we get into what it is let’s talk about who Terp was. Terp Palmer was a dear friend of my parents from their high school days. The Palmer family was in many ways just an extended part of our family. We spent many times together as families. They were at my high school graduation, my first wedding and many other time throughout my life.
Sadly Terp passed in 2012. I know his family misses him terribly, and as I said the Palmers were very much family to me. I think about him every time I make this side dish.
This was something that Terp had made first and my family started calling it Terp’s Bread and the name stuck. This is a side dish that they were eating this for years before I was even born, and now even my grandkids love it.
So what exactly is Terp’s Bread? It is a golden flaky buttery bread dish we had at holidays and special occasions. We had it only sparingly throughout the year not because it was difficult or time-consuming to make but because it is so rich and decadent. I can’t remember ever seeing anyone eat just on piece of this bread and as I speak from experience too much of this is dangerous.
You will not believe how easy this is to make Two ingredients and two steps to enjoy Terp’s Bread
First preheat your oven to 375 and while it is preheating place your bundt pan with two sticks of butter in the oven. Now for this I will be talking about a full size bundt pan. If you are using the small bundt pan just cut the recipe in half.
Once the oven is preheated remove the bundt pan and the butter will be melted.
I know you’re thinking “OMG! That’s too much Butter!!!” Well it may seem like a lot but the taste is amazing.
Next pop open 3 cans of refrigerator crescent rolls and place them in the bundt pan, or four small cans in a small bundt pan, soaking in the butter and place it back in the oven.
After the rolls cook for 10-15 minutes check the color on the rolls should be a golden brown. When done remove from oven. Place a plate face down over the bundt pan and turn over so the bread comes out just as you would a cake.
