Ok I’ll admit it I have been drawn in by the air fryer craze, and why not they are great. It doesn’t take long to heat, doesn’t heat up the entire kitchen and makes food crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. My granddaughters favorite food at our house is tater tots or Totters as she calls them and they are perfect in the air fryer not mushy like they are in the oven and not overly oily like they would be in the deep fryer.
We use the air fryer 3 or 4 times a week for all types of foods, but I thought I would share a simple and delicious recipe to get us started.
Plain and straight forward roast potato. I start off with baby gold potatoes wash and cut them down into 1 inch wedges. it is important to get them all the same size or as close as possible so they all cook at the same speed. Place them in a medium size bowl and drizzle a little, and I mean a very little, vegetable oil. Season with salt pepper and anything else you like, I used a little dried rosemary and minced garlic. Toss in the bowl with oil and seasonings while air fryer is preheating (about 2 minutes at 400). Add potatoes to the air fryer and cook for 12 minutes at 400. I like to shake the basket half way through but it really isn’t an absolute necessity. After 12 minutes remove and add butter, sour cream or whatever your prefered topping is. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.
